Long story short: Cannot be judged out of the bottle. May not be the Oakmoss you're looking for. This may be "true" oakmoss oil, but as many, many reviewers have noted, out of the bottle it smells like overly strong baby powder or foul "old lady parfum." It's cloying and unpleasant like household cleaners. Every other oakmoss I've tried was light and earthy. This is not. It carries almost too well and the tiniest amount will give off scent for hours. It is also extremely difficult to remove from hands or surfaces! (I recommend gloves, even just to open the bottle.)I would never put this in an aromatherapy device for fear of tainting the device with "household cleaner" scent permanently.However...once combined with wax, soap, or incense and allowed to cure, it does transform to its familiar woody/musky/amber-like fragrance. If used with a light touch and given time to develop, this is a complex, quality aroma.I HAVE BEEN CURIOUS OF OAK MOSS FOR A LONG TIME, ONLY NOW PURCHASING IT AS IT RUBBED IN MY FACE AT CHECK OUT, AND I AM GLAD I HAD A WEAK MOMENT. IT SMELLS SIMULAR TO SANDLE WOOD IN MANY REGARDS, BUT FRESHER, BRIGHTER, LIGHTER. I FIND IT BEING ONE OF MY MOST REACHED FOR OILS LATELY. iVE MIXED IT WITH EVERYTHING FROM CITRIS TO YALANG YALANG AND JASMINE. IM GUESSING THE PROS WOULD CALL IT A BASE. IT REALLY DOES BRING ITS CO-DIFUSED TOGETHER IN A WARM FRESH BLANKET THAT NEVER BRINGS THEM DOWN JUST FILLS IN THEIR LACKING MID AND LOW AREAS. IT'S GREAT, I CANT IMAGINE SOME ONE WHO ENJOYS DEFUSING NOT ENJOYING IT. IM HOOKED, THANKSThis has been one of my more popular candle scents! It has been several months and the oil is the same as the day it had arrived. The oil is not as advertised. Its scent has no resemblance of oak moss nor is it even remotely earthy. It smells overwhelmingly like baby powder. Only baby powder.I have enjoyed my purchases with this company in the past, but the experience I had with this item was a complete disappointment. Highly recommendedHas a lighter scent so if mixing with other oils be careful it can be over powered easy with other oils.
