I admit I don't use sea moss and have never heard of the herbalist, Dr. (who wasn't actually a doctor) Sebi, who apparently passed away a few years ago. It was unclear to me if the author had a relationship with Sebi - as she uses his name in her book titles presumably to promote them - or if she is simply an admirer of his philosophy / herbal lifestyle. Nonetheless, she doesn't try to hide his faults as she points out the legal issues he faced in the U.S.The book is chock-full of information on the benefits of sea moss. Sea moss is a type of seaweed or algae that grows along the Atlantic coast. It can be taken orally, made into a gel that can be applied topically, and it is apparently used in many medicinal supplements. It is full of essential minerals and vitamins to help hair growth, boost immunity, improve skin, and it has anti-aging effects. It is also rich in iodine, so its consumption should be moderated as it can lead to thyroid problems. As for the numerous benefits of using sea moss on your hair, it's full of iron to prevent hair loss, its antioxidants will fuel hair growth and scalp health, fortify hair strands, give it "shine", reduce dryness, etc.The author does a good job of explaining how to prepare sea moss gel, how to store it, how to make a conditioner, and provides other tips (e.g. don't wash your hair every day, air dry instead of using a hairdryer, etc.) on hair care. She also does an admirable job of warning about the presence of fake sea moss on the market and how to detect the real stuff from the fake.I was glad to see the author use references from actual doctors to support her positions on sea moss but if I was genuinely interested in purchasing sea moss, I have no idea where to buy it (supermarket?, online?). I would have liked to have seen the author include some points of purchase and expand a little bit more on how to avoid buying fake vs. real. I almost knocked a star off for this but overall, I felt this was a 5-star effort, as the amount of information alone warrants it. A very useful and informative read!
